"Our 4th week has been nothing if not eventful. Martin Luther King Jr day left us with a shorter week and subsequently larger workload. Luckily, our Tuesday Anesis Group guided us through "yoga sleep", a mindfulness meditation centered on full-body relaxation and positive memory-based mental imagery.

We had two tutoring sessions with one of JB's volunteers, Kristin, on financial literacy, where we focused on budgeting, credit scores, and home purchasing.

Despite high confidence levels, we were all excited to get through our non-multiple choice ServSafe midterms. It was good to review and preparation for our quickly upcoming final that will allow us to become ServSafe certified.
Jan from Project Respect came in to talk to the students about different fun ways of coping with trauma- we love Jan!
We presented our ServSafe projects, where we demonstrated our ServSafe Knowledge of "The FLow Of Food" based on either a catering or food truck scenario. Despite a slight lack of preparedness, presentations were a success and a great source of overall fun and laughter.
Manny sang us "his country song" that he created about his current incarceration status that we all enjoyed, Amber cooked a delicious chicken with shrimp fried rice for the class, and many students got goods news this week both about employment and release dates or house arrest.
