The students are approaching their last week in the classroom. The last eight weeks have flown by! They both passed their Supervision tests this week-woohoo!!! They hope to keep that rolling through this week with Nutrition on Monday, ServSafe Wednesday, and Cost on Friday. In addition to all that, they also have their Nutrition presentations on Wednesday. This last week is going to really push them to the limits, but hopefully with this long weekend they find time to study study study!!
This week in the classroom, we finished up two more books (Cost will wrap up Monday) and have really gotten to work on employment skills. One of our fabulous interns, Emily, introduced cover letters and worked with them on creating those. Coming up this week will be Conviction Statements- how to talk about past convictions in a positive light. This is a very important skill to master when you have a history with the criminal justice system.
In the kitchen, the students made lot of cookies and assisted in pie making. The kitchen has been a busy place this week with orders for the Easter weekend- lots of breads, morning buns, muffins, and of course, cookies. I know the students are excited to keep learning these and other skills in the kitchen in their final month!
We have an information session coming up on Thursday, April 25 at 12:00 at the bakery (1708 Thierer Rd). Come by even just to learn about the program and find out what we can do for you! If you have questions you can call us at 608-598-0420. Hope to see you there!
