Hi there! It’s me, Sonja, with news from the kitchen. We’ve had some cool stuff going on. Short Stack Eatery has made us their organization of the month, they help us out in lots of cool ways, including a portion of their sales for the month of August will go to our program. Also, exciting for us in the kitchen, is that they are featuring our products. Our new orange rolls have been featured, along with our collaboration with Sassy Cow creamery ice cream sandwiches. Currently they are featuring our loaded morning glory muffins. They will also be hosting a meet and greet brunch with the staff of Just Bakery on August 29 at 11:00, come on down and have some great food and hang out with us!
Our awesome volunteer Greg came in this week. He volunteers his time to come in and make sure our equipment is in proper working order for us. He’s been especially helpful with our commercial cookie machine, it’s all pretty technical stuff and he makes sure it’s it great condition. He was in this week to make sure we have the small we plates ready for next week as we will be making all the cookies for the ice cream sandwiches we will be serving at the Taste of Madison... Speaking of, Prepping for #TasteofMadison is keeping us busy in the kitchen. We will be making thousands of cookies and hundreds of brownies. We will feature sugar and blue moon ice cream sandwiches, oatmeal cranberry cookies and our award winning turtle brownies.
Be sure to look for us between East Washington and King Street. We will have a new fall menu coming out next month, you can count on some #PUMPKIN things to be on it, it’s about the time, also my favorite time of year to be a baker. Dont forget to also check out our #Facebook page @JustBakeryMSN and our #instagram page @mumjustbakery for more Just Bakery related stuff.
Are you or someone you know negatively impacted by trauma you've experienced? Does it interfere with your ability to find and hold down a job? Our next cohort may be for you! We are running another trauma-informed cohort this September. The curriculum has been cut down to Management, Nutrition, and #ServSafe as well as baker's math and the kitchen. We will be working on dealing with trauma and building tool boxes with coping mechanisms and skills to lessen the impact of trauma, while also providing 7 credits towards Madison College and those resume building certificates and skills! Due to a special grant, this will be a paid cohort. We will also have other supportive services: transportation, child care, peer specialists, and food. If you are interested, mark August 20 down on your calendar. It is imperative that any potential students attend this information session! It will be 12:00-3:00. If you have any questions you can call us at 608-598-0420.
